1.500 Surround Sound: Before 5.1 surround sound, there was stereo. Long before both, there was the original surround sound: the grand polychoral style of the 1500s. Les Canards Chantants invites the listener to occupy the acoustical architecture of lavish works by Victoria, Lassus, Gabrieli and more, in a program that exploits the drama of sound and space.
We will also have baritone Jamal Sarikoki who has come back from Colorado to perform with us. It is his birthday weekend and he will be sharing four of his favorite spirituals as an extended encore for us.

TICKETS ARE $30-$40 AND WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR 1 HOUR BEFORE PERFORMANCE TIME.

May 6, 2022 at St. Boniface Episcopal Church, Siesta Key
May 7, 2022 at First Presbyterian Church, Sarasota

PLEASE NOTE: This week we were to begin final rehearsals for Choral Splendor in 40 Parts. Over the weekend, despite being fully vaccinated, a number of our singers have tested positive for Covid. Thankfully all have only minor symptoms. Since these parts are so specialized, and specifically assigned to showcase the strengths of each singer, we feel we cannot present these pieces well artistically. Our dedicated singers have been preparing this for months and it is not something anyone can just step into at the last moment.

So we are pivoting, as the show must go on, and we all need inspiring live music in our lives. Les Canards Chantants (The Singing Ducks) are specialists in the music of the Renaissance and making Renaissance approachable for modern day audiences. They were originally to be featured throughout the program, but they have instead decided to use their residency to cultivate and rehearse a special program for all of us
